When searching for books in the catalog, one way to do it is to select "Keyword Boolean" and to use these components:

• keywords, the nouns that describe your topic - hearing aid
• Boolean operators, (AND, OR) - translating OR interpreting
• quotation marks for phrases - "Deaf culture"
• truncate with(?) Deaf? also pulls up Deafness .
