Step 2: Decide How You'd Like to Share the Content

Tutorials and videos can be shared with your students by embedding the content into your Blackboard course or by sharing it with students outside of Blackboard, such as through email or your syllabus.

MC Library recommends you embed the content in your Blackboard course.

Doing so allows you to embed the content at the point of need. It also allows you to track your students' use of the content. Quizzes can be integrated into your Blackboard gradebook for automatic grading.

Note that quizzes associated with Credo items are only available for embedding in Blackboard. If you choose to share a Credo item with your students outside of Blackboard, you will not be able to use the corresponding quiz.

If you choose to embed the content in Blackboard, continue to step 3.

If you choose to share the content with your students outside of Blackboard, simply provide them with the Preview link. Note that students accessing the content from off campus will be required to enter their M number to access. Students taking an MC Library tutorial or video outside of Blackboard can still complete the corresponding quiz. In that case, please instruct your students to enter your email address when prompted and you will be emailed their scores.

Step 3: Determine the Source of Your Selected Content and Embed the Tutorial or Video in Blackboard

The tutorials, videos, and their accompanying quizzes listed above come from two sources: those whose labels begin with "MC Library" are created by MC librarians. Those whose label begins with "Credo" are part of a package from a third-party vendor. How you will embed the content in Blackboard depends on its source.

  1. Open your Blackboard course and navigate to the Course Content section. Select the course module where you want to embed the MC Library tutorial or video.
  2. Select Build Content > Web Link.
  3. Give a name to the link. We recommend using the same name as the content you're embedding (e.g., MC Library Tutorial: APA Citations).
  4. Paste the MC Library tutorial or video link into the URL field.
  5. Leave the box "This link is to a Tool Provider" unchecked.
  6. Click "Submit."
  1. Open your Blackboard course and navigate to the Course Content section. Select your course module, where you want to embed the Credo tutorial or video.
  2. Select Build Content > Web Link.
  3. Give a name to the link. We recommend using the same name as the content you're embedding (e.g., Credo Video: The Research Process).
  4. Paste the Credo tutorial or video's embed URL into the URL field. Make sure to paste the embed URL, not the preview URL, into your Blackboard course.
  5. Check the box to indicate that "This link is to a Tool Provider."
  6. Leave the default selection (“No”) when asked about enabling evaluation. Credo Instruct tutorials that have practice questions are not graded.
  7. Click "Submit."

If you'd like more guidance, watch our video on embedding tutorials and videos in Blackboardnew window.

Step 4: Embed the Corresponding Quiz in Blackboard

Not all tutorials and videos have quiz components, but many do. If you would like to assess your students' learning, you may embed the quiz that corresponds with the tutorial or video you selected (if available) into Blackboard for automatic grading.

  1. Click the button to download the quiz that corresponds to the tutorial or video you've selected as a .zip file. Save it to a location on your computer.
  2. Follow the instructions of the Exporting & Importing a Test into a Blackboard Course packet (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader.-Link opens in new window.) to import the quiz file.
  3. After you have imported the quiz file, you will be able to add the quiz to your course content. Go to the appropriate module, select Assessments > Test and select the quiz from the list of available tests.
Note: If you are using a Blackboard quiz for an MC Library tutorial, you will need to instruct students to return to Blackboard to complete the quiz. Students should not use the quiz link from within the tutorial.
