Of Beauty and Deities: Music and Dance of IndiaWith wonderful performances by the troupe “Kalanjali: Dances of India,” this program introduces classical Indian dance and music, featuring a kirtanam dance honoring Lord Krishna, and other “bharata natyam” pieces, a temple dance style described in a 2,000-year-old Sanskrit treatise on the performing arts. Viewers learn the symbolic significance of these dances, while discussions with the accompanists provide a glimpse into Indian music’s ragas and talas.
