Montgomery County Public Library (MCPL) is also a good source for evidence-based research and scholarly articles, as well as career and professional development information. If you don't already have an MCPL card, you can apply for a digital card that allows access to their resources remotely on their website. Remote access to these recommended resources requires login with either a regular or digital card.

The Office of Community-Oriented Policing Services, a component of the US Department of Justice, defines community-oriented policing (COP), or community policing, as “a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies that support the systemic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.” (from Policing Defined, U.S. Department of Justice).

In 2022, the Montgomery County Council passed, and County Executive Marc Elrich signed into law, Bill 17-21, which established a partnership between the Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery College, and other local institutions of higher education.
