MC Library's Guide to Hispanic Heritage!

September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month!

MC Library is proud to join in the celebration of the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans throughout history. This guide is dedicated to Hispanic Heritage. Here, you will learn about Hispanic American history, stories, and receive several book and video recommendations. You will also find helpful research databases and resources from MC, as well as local, and national sources all dedicated to Hispanic Heritage. 

Hispanic Heritage & Identity

Somos is a video and photography multimedia project directed by writer, filmmaker, and content creator Alberto Ferreras featuring a diverse group of Latinas and Latinos answering questions about identity, family histories, and experiences. 

Undocumented at MC

Undocumented immigrants are often faceless news headliners. Montgomery College helps put faces to some of those inspiring people. Learn the untold stories of four exceptional MC students who, despite the challenges, achieved their goals of attending a higher education institution. Hosted by MC Student Peter Pereyra.

Las Muertes Más Bellas del Mundo/The Most Beautiful Deaths in the World Documentary Screening with Filmmaker 

A documentary with subtitles that explores how Salvadoran artists in Washington, D.C. use their art to heal from civil war trauma, reclaim their heritage, and find a sense of belonging.

About These Guides

Each year, Montgomery College's Board of Trustees designates national and state of Maryland awareness days and months for MC to celebrate. To acknowledge and celebrate diversity, MC Library creates online guides and library displays for each awareness day or month designated by the Board.
